This research focuses on improving the growth of start-ups to scale-ups through data-driven management and scientific validation

The research program “From Start-up to Scale-up” led by Ed Nijssen aims to improve the throughput of start-ups to scale-ups through data-driven management and scientific validation.

Crucial role

Innovation drives the economy, and much of this innovation comes from young entrepreneurship. Start-ups play a crucial role in bringing breakthrough technologies to market. However, only a small percentage of these start-ups grow into scale-ups, companies that enter an accelerated growth phase and have a significant societal impact.

Addressing key start-up issues

The research focuses on two key problems that hinder the continued growth of start-ups: the inadequate development of start-up teams and the subordinate role of commercialization. Through a unique collaboration between knowledge institutions such as ý, Tilburg University and Radboud University, and partners from the Brabant start-up ecosystem such as BOM and Braventure, a validated approach is being developed to address these problems.

Employment and growth

Among other things, the research will start helping start-ups develop a balanced team and validate their products based on customer feedback. This contributes to a better Brabant start-up ecosystem, ultimately leading to more employment and economic growth in the region.
