Mini-Symposium on Sustainable Chemistry

March 28, 2025

On Wednesday, March 26, 2025, the Polymer Performance Materials group had the opportunity to host a mini-symposium in the Helix, featuring insightful lectures by two distinguished professors: Prof. Michael Meier from the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology, Germany, and Prof. Frederik Wurm from the University of Twente, the Netherlands.

Professor Meier presented his talk titled "New Cellulose Chemistry from a Sustainability Perspective: Renewability is Not Enough", emphasizing the need for innovative approaches to cellulose chemistry that go beyond mere renewability to achieve true sustainability.

Professor Wurm's presentation, “Biobased and Biodegradable Nanocarriers for Sustainable Plant Protection”, highlighted the development of advanced nanocarriers designed to enhance plant protection in an environmentally friendly manner.

The symposium sparked engaging discussions and offered valuable insights into the latest research on sustainability in chemistry, resonating well with both students and researchers in our department.
