Tom Oomen (year of birth) is associate professor at the department of Mechanical Engineering, where he’s part of the Control Systems Technology group of Maarten Steinbuch. He is also involved in the work of the Eindhoven Artficial Intelligence Institute (EAISI).
He describes himself as a “systems control freak”, with a strong fascination for hidden technology, “which you don’t see until it’s broken”.
He is a recipient of both the VENI (2013) and VIDI (2017) personal research grants from the Dutch Research Council (NWO), and a senior member of the IEEE.
Tom regularly organizes for industry, which allow him to combine his insights from fundamental research with the everyday practice of engineers.
