Preventing system failures with predictive algorithms
Tom Oomen (year of birth) is associate professor at the department of Mechanical Engineering, where he鈥檚 part of the Control Systems Technology group of Maarten Steinbuch. He is also involved in the work of the Eindhoven Artficial Intelligence Institute (EAISI).
He describes himself as a 鈥渟ystems control freak鈥�, with a strong fascination for hidden technology, 鈥渨hich you don鈥檛 see until it鈥檚 broken鈥�.
He is a recipient of both the VENI (2013) and VIDI (2017) personal research grants from the Dutch Research Council (NWO), and a senior member of the IEEE.
Tom regularly organizes for industry, which allow him to combine his insights from fundamental research with the everyday practice of engineers.
