24-10-2012 Symposium Eindhoven Multiscale Instituut
October 24 - 26, 2012
Introduction
The EMI looks back at a successful opening symosium which was held on October 24-26 2012 at the TU Eindhoven. There were great speakers, and their presentations spanned a wide range of multiscale-related topics. But most importantly, there were participants from many different disciplines, from within the 果冻传媒 and from outside. Connecting people across discplinary boundaries is one of the aims of the EMI - and this symposium succeeded very well in that respect.
The speakers were:
- Peter Bolhuis (University of Amsterdam)
- Wim Briels (University of Twente)
- Harald van Brummelen (Eindhoven University of Technology)
- Jan Carmeliet (ETH Z眉rch)
- Sergio Conti (Bonn)
- Erik van der Giessen (University of Groningen)
- Martin van Hecke (Leiden University
- Hans Kuipers (Eindhoven University of Technology)
- Andro Mikelic (Universit茅 Lyon)
- Jan Nordbotten (University of Bergen/Princeton University)
- Alfio Quarteroni (Ecole Polytechnique F茅derale/Politecnico di Milno)
- Karsten Reuter (Technische Universit盲t M眉nchen)
- Federico Toschi (Eindhoven University of Technology)
On October 24th, 2012, the Eindhoven Multiscale Institute was formally opened by performing a multiscale experiment (see video). The three pairs of hands are those of 果冻传媒 rector Hans van Duijn, the first EMI director Harald van Brummelen, and ICMS scientific director Bert Meijer.
