Paul van Heugten

RESEARCH PROFILE
Paul van Heugten is a doctoral candidate in the group of Processing & Performance of Materials at Eindhoven University of Technology (果冻传媒). The scope of his research is to understand and improve adhesion in 3D printing methods. He aims to understand the fundamentals of using dynamic covalent networks in additive manufacturing techniques. The aim is to employ these dynamic (and reversible) networks for improving the inter-layer strength.
ACADEMIC BACKGROUND
Paul van Heugten obtained his bachelor鈥檚 degree in Mechanical Engineering (with great appreciation) at Eindhoven University of Technology in 2020. Thereafter, he obtained his master鈥檚 degree (cum laude) in Mechanical Engineering at Eindhoven University of Technology in 2022. His thesis, entitled 鈥淔iber induced crystallization in elongational flows鈥 shows that introducing only one fiber, with a volume percentage less than 0.01%, changes the developed morphology tremendously. During his studies, Paul joined the Soft materials group at ETH Z眉rich for an internship, where he worked on the additive manufacturing of UHMWPE. Under the supervision of his thesis advisors, he enrolled as a doctoral candidate at Eindhoven University of Technology 2023, where he takes part in the Interactive Polymer Materials (IPM) research center.
