RESEARCH PROFILE
Pourya Rahnama is a Doctoral candidate in the Power and Flow group at the Department of Mechanical Engineering of Eindhoven University of Technology (果冻传媒). His research interests are in the area of Internal Combustion Engines (ICEs) and turbulent combustion models. He uses Computational Fluid Dynamic (CFD) simulation, optimization algorithms, and machine learning models to explain mechanisms controlling the engine performance and emission formation.
We have seen with research we can design more advanced internal combustion engines which are more efficient and produce less pollution, so we must continue our research in this area to design engines with near-zero emissions. With added pollutant formation and electricity load in batteries production and charging Electric Vehicles, the use of these cars will be only justifiable when we have sufficient renewable energy resources.
ACADEMIC BACKGROUND
Pourya obtained his master's degree at Iran University of Science and Technology (IUST). His master thesis is about model development for Reactivity Controlled Compression Ignition (RCCI) engines. During his master's program, Pourya has achieved the titles of Top Researcher and Distinguished Student in the Department of Automotive Engineering.
