Blending information, training, and education

ICMS has a strong and well-established reputation for talent development, which plays a vital role in cultivating leadership and fostering interdisciplinary growth among its members. We are convinced that it is essential to build future leadership and that today鈥檚 leaders are responsible for training tomorrow鈥檚 leaders.

Our talent development programs are designed to empower young scientists by giving them ownership of their careers, following a thorough transfer of knowledge and expertise. Over the years, we have initiated a wide range of activities aimed at supporting talent at various stages of their academic journey.

Programmes

  • Science Communication Training

Workshops for postdocs and assistant professors on writing and presenting research to (non-)expert audiences. Invites come via ICMS mailing list.

  • Scientific Skills Course

An annual series of 10 sessions for PhDs where senior researchers share scientific skills and professional best practices with first- and second-year PhD students. Invites come via ICMS mailing list.

  • ICMS Master End Projects Initiative

Assistant professors design interdisciplinary master鈥檚 projects to explore new scientific directions and foster collaboration across research areas. This also provides insight into each other鈥檚 infrastructure.

  • Career Orientation for Postdocs

Postdocs, often at a pivotal point in their careers, are encouraged to explore diverse career paths. They organize annual events featuring academic and industry professionals who share their career journeys. ICMS Fellows organize and announce sessions.

  • PhD Outreach Program

A peer-led initiative by and for PhD students. It includes an annual paper competition that helps participants develop skills in evaluation, presentation, jury participation, and event organization. They also organize numerous social events and quizzes. Contact the PhD Outreach Committee (PhD.Outreach.ICMS@tue.nl) for more information.

  • Individual Coaching

Bespoke coaching on a variety of topics. Contact Monique Bruining (m.j.bruining@tue.nl) for more information, or to set up a session.

  • Interactive Polymer Materials 果冻传媒 Programmes

As part of the Interactive Polymer Materials gravitation program, we offer a number of additional career and personal development programmes. Contact Loai Abdelmohsen (l.k.e.a.abdelmohsen@tue.nl) for more information.
