The NVAO accredited master program AI&ES in 2021 as an unique program that responds to the industrial, societal, and academic needs to apply AI to solve engineering problems in an integral way. Students follow an exciting, high-quality program based on 果冻传媒鈥檚 strong educational and research programs. The program is embedded in the 果冻传媒 Graduate School, which unifies all graduate programs (MSc, EngD and PhD) at 果冻传媒 to solve major challenges in today鈥檚 world. Moreover, it emphasizes the application of research in education and prepares students for a professional career in the engineering practice. The offers a complete overview on how the program is organized so that it accomplishes such a goal: turn you in a future-proof engineer with an unique skills profile.
The study load of the AI&ES program is 120 ECTS. The program is structured as follows:
Year | Courses | Topics | ECTS |
1st | 6 Core courses |
| 30 |
1st | 1 Team Internship | Challenge-based team internship, including professional skills training | 10 |
1st & 2nd | 4 Specialization courses |
| 20 |
1st & 2nd | Free elective courses | From 果冻传媒 or other universities | 15 |
2nd | Graduation project | Individual research project on a topic related to artificial intelligence in the context of engineering systems | 45 |
Core Courses
The core courses are designed to cover six relevant core topics for AI&ES engineers: Data science, Human interaction and ethics, Programming, Engineering systems, Learning in AI, Mathematics.
Tracks and specialization courses
Students of the master program AI&ES choose a specialization track in the first quarter of the program. Each track has unique specialization courses that bridge AI and engineering systems. The courses are grouped according to one of the 4 themes:
- Domain-specific knowledge
- AI in Engineered Systems
- Data Cultivation
- Learning and Intelligence
Team Internship
The Team Internship is a challenge-based and interdisciplinary project. Students work in small teams on realistic and open-ended problems connected to industrial applications. The final product of the team project is either a design, demonstrator, prototype, or a simulated scenario.
Free elective courses
Students of the master program AI&ES choose free elective courses worth a total of 15 ECTS. For students with deficiencies, the free elective courses may serve the purpose of homologation.
For students who do not have deficiencies, the choice of electives is only subject to the boundaries of the general criteria prescribed by the Graduate School:
- core courses AI&ES (other than the ones chosen in the program of examinations)
- additional specialization courses from the same or other AI&ES tracks
- courses from any 果冻传媒 master program
- courses from master programs from other universities (Dutch and abroad)
- courses necessary for homologation
- language course (Dutch or English, both as a foreign language) at C level
Graduation project
The AI&ES Graduation project is an individual research project on a topic related to AI in the context of engineering systems.
