Every year, we wear, wash, and discard clothing, often over minor flaws. With 100 billion garments produced globally, only 20% are reused or recycled, while 91 million tons of textile waste pile up. In the Netherlands, second-hand shops reject large volumes due to imperfections, limiting upcycling potential. Many want to repair or customize clothes, but sewing takes skill, time, and effort. Alternatives like snaps or glue come with drawbacks. Existing upcycling efforts often lack affordability or style appeal.
