Clara Glachant

RESEARCH PROFILE
Clara Glachant is a PhD candidate on Smart, Active and Sustainable Micromobility (2021-2025) in the Technology, Innovation and Society group of the Industrial Engineering and Innovation Sciences Department at the Eindhoven University of Technology. Her research examines the perceptions, representations, and identities associated with micromobility and mobility transitions in the Netherlands and in the United Kingdom. She is supervised by (supervisor) and Prof. Dr. Ruth Oldenziel (promotor).
Due to defend her PhD in November 2025, Clara is actively looking for postdoctoral opportunities on topics related to mobility, sustainability and/or justice in the Netherlands.
Clara's research is published in peer-reviewed journals in the areas of transport and mobility studies, environmental research and public health, and geography. She presented her work at multiple international conferences and seminars (academic and policy). Her research was also featured in the and .
Clara is also involved in the , working with Universities of Brighton, Leeds and Oxford. As part of this project, she is developing her mixed-method expertise, collaborating on analyses combining survey and interview data.
Clara is currently a visiting scholar in the Innovation Studies group at the (Utrecht University) where she researches translocal initiatives and just sustainability transitions with Prof. Avelino and Dr. Pel. As part of her visit, Clara is involved with the .
Clara is involved in several networks, notably , for which she assisted in organizing the 2022 PhD School on Methodologies and Methods for Sustainability Transitions Research. She is also engaged in , where she is part of the local organizing committee of the taking place in Eindhoven in November 2025.
Clara has been an active member of the TIS PhD Community Committee which organized workshops and social events for PhDs and postdocs of the TIS research group.
ACADEMIC BACKGROUND
Clara has a background in Political Science (MA at Sciences Po Lille) and Urban Governance/Public Adminstration (MSc at Erasmus University Rotterdam). During her studies, she interned at the Municipality of The Hague, at the mobility consultancy firm and at the of the Erasmus University Rotterdam.
